About Us

At Medication for Nepal, we believe health care is a basic human right. But it is a basic human right which is denied to many Nepalese, through no fault of their own.

In Nepal, shortages of medical drugs in remote areas are a chronic problem which has only got worse in recent years after the terrible earthquakes in 2015 and unofficial blockade by India. More than 15 million people earn less than $1 a day, while national budget allocation for drugs for these people is less than 60 cents per capita. Yes you read that right – for the entire year, less than 60 cents is allocated for each poor person. While the cost of a vial of oxytocin, a lifesaving critical drug that is used to prevent excessive bleeding during delivery, cost about 20 cents. Allow us to put it bluntly: people are suffering and dying in Nepal because of a lack of basic, life-saving treatment.

But you can help. Medication for Nepal is a platform for you to intervene, to get involved and to, to show you care for people – even though you may never meet them in person.

Come, join us, and be part of the solution. Your donations will be used to purchase drugs at the subsidized rate. This mean each dollar of your donation goes a lot farther. You can donate in two ways:

  • Please send you support to Nepal Shares account – Sidhhartha Bank, Account No. 01615237397, Thamel Branch, Kathmandu
  • You can donate directly to each patient here.

Medication for Nepal is under fiscal cover of Nepal Shares, a registered charity in Nepal who has been working relentlessly to support the rural Nepal and is currently piloting in Baitadi, Bajura, Sindhuli & Dhading.

If you would like to partner with us to take this concept in other areas of Nepal besides the current piloting districts – please write to us at medicationfornepal@gmail.com. We will work with you to make it happen..

Thank you!
